Confined Space Entry Theory

(Up to 8 Hours*) - Max. 16 Students

*Course length will be extended up to 8 hours in the event training includes an actual Confined Space Entry

Recognizing what an enclosed or confined space is, and knowing how to make it safe for entry, are two key lessons of this course.

Participants Will Learn:

  • How to identify an enclosed or confined space, according to existing H&S Regulation O.Reg 632/05 enforced as of September 30, 2006 -  Specific to Industrial Establishments Regulation 851 Part 1.1, Sections 119.1 – 120.0
  • How to identify the hazards of a confined space
  • What procedures are required for working safely in a confined area and be in compliance with the new Regulations
  • The importance and value of a work permit system
  • Why it is essential to continually monitor a confined space
  • When to conduct lockout
  • Review the new Confined Space Regulations
  • Optional Extension: Actual Entry into one of client’s pre-selected* confined spaces
    • Participants will practice vertical and/or horizontal entry and retrieval, plus they’ll practice using the equipment, PPE and tools required for confined space entry.
    • Entry will include a hazard assessment and use of Entry permit.

* A confined space, which following hazard assessment, will not require the use of SCBA (Self Contained Breathing apparatus)
